Want to know more about desalination? KEAG's latest public talk will cover this hot topic, at 7pm on Tuesday 5 December at Kommetjie Primary School.
Marine biologist and environmental consultant Dr Ken Hutchings will describe how desalination works and its potential effects on the sea. He will also briefly describe some of the studies undertaken for existing desalination plants along the Western Cape coast and comment on the proposed plants planned to partly address the City’s water crisis.
The R50 entry includes a glass of wine or juice and proceeds go to KEAG's work in the village.
A warning from KomWatch in Kommetjie re Noordhoek beach
Please be very vigilant and walk in groups if you're considering walking on Noordhoek Beach. There have been a series of serious injury attacks on walkers near the Kakapo over the past few weeks. Residents' organisations and Neighbourhood Watches are calling for more action from SANParks. Meanwhile, if you have friends, family or paying guests visiting, especially as the holiday season approaches, you should make them aware of the security hazards in our area – you can update yourself via Komwatch.
The Cape Choir is recruiting men!
Professional musician and composer Hein Van den Geyn, our fun and talented Scarborough choirmaster, is inviting more men to join the Cape Choir. We rehearse every Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm at the Camel Rock. It's a great enlivening experience and even if you cannot read music (just sing in the shower) you will walk away with a great sense of rhythm… We do aim high though and after over 4 years in function, we are getting pretty good… hey?
We will have our end of year concert on 10th December at the Camel Rock at 4pm sharp. Then the classes will start again next year probably first week in Feb or last in Jan. (Donation suggested R50 per class). Please come and join.
Men, especially those deep deep (tuned) voices please contact Hein himself on firstname.lastname@example.org

Plastic kids motocycles – 2 or 3 needed – I'm happy to purchase – but thought I'd try and recycle one before adding more plastic to the village first.
Melamine and wood – I am renovating a kitchen in Pinehaven and have a whole-lot of melamine pieces and some other wood which I was planning to take to the re-cycling depot. If anyone knows anyone in the Redhill community who can do with bits of melamine (which could be used to construct something)…. Please let me know soonest. I need to move them as I need the space. I have a trailer and could take them down the hill to Redhill.

Xmas Party – Redhill Feeding Scheme
Our heartfelt thanks to Scarborough Community for all your support in 2017. You have made a huge difference to the lives of many children in the Redhill Community.
We are having a Christmas party on Friday 8 December for about 100 children. We need a little present for each child – preferably with a toothbrush, toothpaste and face cloth ( and maybe a chocolate) inside of it.
Please contribute presents. There will be a box at the Hub for dropping presents. Any food contributions for the day will also be very welcome.
We provide 5 meals per week for approx. 80 children per meal, as well as provide literacy support to approx. 60 children.
We are always on the lookout for extra donations and volunteers to support our friends in Redhill. On the donations front we can always use more money, food, books and clothes. Volunteers will be especially useful to help with the running of the project.
