Baboon management – feeding sites for baboons?

Despite a heatwave and raging fire which devastated natural food sources, limited access to water, relentless paintballing and harassment by baboon monitors, a young female (named Angelina by Baboon Matters), adopted the young baboon orphaned when its mother was shot by a resident in Scarborough in December. Angelina has subsequently given birth to her own infant, and is caring for and suckling both youngsters, carrying one on her tummy and one on her back.

Please see the Baboon Matters page for the full article and picture:

Feeding sites for baboons is a humane solution. Hunting, culling and killing are "approved" while feeding wild animals is a criminal offense?! We have been BRAINWASHED by the conservation authorities in wildlife policies of aggression and war. Since it is legal we don't see it as a criminal offense. It is monstrous. Its very nature is one of suffering and tragedy. Lets bring "feeding sites" out of the closet as a real option.

Seeds of change – the Seed Saving Movement

Seeds are essential to maintain future food supplies. They are the foundation of life, from fruits and vegetables to grain and livestock feed — without them, we have no food. It's estimated that upwards of 90 percent of our caloric intake comes from seeds, directly or indirectly. See atchment for the full document.

Robin Hocking's Remembrance Moment

Robin was a Warrant Officer in the Navy (submarines) and a long- time Scarbs resident until he and his family emigrated to New Zealand.  He sadly passed away 2 years ago.  Louise,  his wife, will be paying a short visit, to reunite him with his beloved waves at the Point.
Please join us – 13 Mar 2016, 10am. Scarborough Beach. Far corner towards the reserve. There will be a remembrance Moment where you can share a story or read something in memory of Robin. His remaining ashes will be put in the ocean. Hopefully refreshments at the Camel Rock Restaurant afterwards.
